چکیده

Three atmospheric-chemistry sensors form part of the ENVISAT payload that has been placed into orbit in March 2002. This paper presents reviews the end-toend performance of the GOMOS, MIPAS and SCIAMACHY observation systems and will discuss the product quality control assessment of these instruments. An important part of the quality assessment is the Geophysical Validation. At the ACVT Validation workshop held in Frascati, Italy, from 4-7 December 2006, scientists and engineers presented analyses of the exhaustive series of tests that have been run on each of ENVISAT atmospheric chemistry sensors since the spacecraft was launched in March 2002.

Interactive comment on “Validation of ACE-FTS

General comments This paper deals with the validation of a new atmospheric chemistry satellite mission (ACE) for an important atmospheric species (N2O). This theme is of high significance for the atmospheric chemistry and physics science community and fits well into the ACP journal scope. The adopted validation concepts are of excellent scientific quality, and the study is based upon a full var...

An improved structure models to explain retention behavior of atmospheric nanoparticles

The quantitative structure-retention relationship (QSRR) of nanoparticles in roadside atmosphere against the comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography which was coupled to high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry was studied. The genetic algorithm (GA) was employed to select the variables that resulted in the best-fitted models. After the variables were selected, the linear multi...

A Modelling System for Mechanism Evaluation Using Chamber Data

Gas-phase chemical mechanisms for use in regional or global tropospheric atmospheric chemistry applications require validation against measurement data in order to assure the modeller and policy-makers that the mechanism adequately represents the chemical processes of the real atmosphere. One means of mechanism validation is through the use of smog-chamber data, in which atmospheric chemistry e...

Implementation of the Fast-JX Photolysis scheme (v6.4) into the UKCA component of the MetUM chemistry-climate model (v7.3)

Atmospheric chemistry is driven by photolytic reactions, making their modelling a crucial component of atmospheric models. We describe the implementation and validation of Fast-JX, a state of the art model of interactive photolysis, into the MetUM chemistry-climate model. This allows for interactive photolysis rates to be calculated in the troposphere and augments the calculation of the rates i...

Interactive comment on “A new airborne laser-induced fluorescence instrument for in situ detection of Formaldehyde throughout the troposphere and lower stratosphere” by M. Cazorla et al

This paper presents a summary of a new laser-induced fluorescence instrument for airborne measurements of formaldehyde. As mentioned in the paper, accurate and precise measurements of formaldehyde are needed as they can provide an important constraint to test current models of atmospheric chemistry as well as provide retrieval validation for satellite measurements. The paper provides a detailed...
